I came across several posters with words to the effect: 'If money is the root of all evil, then why is the Church demanding for it?"
From the Bible, in I TIMOTHY 6:10, it states: 'FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL KINDS OF EVIL." There is a big difference here. Money is not evil, but the love of it is! Money was given to man to be used in all things to glorify God.
Money is of great necessity to be able to uphold, uplift and develop the Kingdom of God here on earth. It is required for the overall operations of the Church internal and external.
The words 'love of money' means, when we a so preoccupied in achieving more of it and giving total priority to it. It is when all else pales as compared to making more money and getting more of it. It is when we are obsessed with it and becomes focal point in life.
In the same Verse in I TIMOTHY, it then continues that because of money, people have wandered away from their faith and have fallen into the trap of the evil one and his ways. That is the gist here. When we are so concentrated on the money that we possess and keep working hard in getting more, we forget about Who gave us the money so that we could use it to improve our lives, and that is our Almighty Father. His Word in MATTHEW 6: 24 clearly points out: "WE CANNOT SERVE BOTH GOD AND MONEY".
Do you have experiences to share about those who really love money and is their main focus in life? How has it affected their lives?
