KADAVU beauty Meresiana Tuicakau could not believe that her dreams has come true being chosen to be a contestant for the Vodafone Hibiscus Queen this year.

The lass from Nasegai, Tavuki in Kadavu is sponsored by Leleuvia Island Resort.

"I was encouraged by family and friends to take part and I gave it a shot. I am thankful that I am one of the 18 young girls doing charity work for the community," she said.

Ms Tuicakau has worked at the Outrigger On the Lagoon resort as a barmaid for the past two years and is enjoying every bit of it.

Brought up in Sigatoka, she said she always feels for the poor and always makes an effort to give her extra clothes and books to the unfortunate in her community at Naidovi in Cuvu. "I would love to see that people can make a difference by helping those people who are less fortunate than them. And we can help in every little way we can."

Ms Tuicakau loves to spend a lot of her time relaxing at the beach or playing beach volleyball.

She lists her hobbies as socialising and doing charity work.
