Bula vinaka fellow freedom bloggers I got in very late into Seattle last night (1.40am) due to delayed flight from San Francisco (mechanical problems).

How did our meeting go? Almost like herding cats but we worked together as a community! :)

The meeting in Santa Rosa, California did occur, sincerely greatful to each and everyone that showed up and I did notice that some high school/college age youngsters were present, very encouraging to me personally as our fight is eventually for our leaders of tomorrow. I would like to take this moment to thank those parents that did bring their children. Towards the end of my workday here I will send copies of the minutes of the meeting to everyone via email and other means. I also did touch base with Ms.Teupola Buloudradra late on Sunday night for her video version of the meeting.

As we (Movement for Democracy and Freedom for fiji - USA) stand today, there is a NEWER much more sound steering committee apart from other individuals who have pledged to lend their experience and expertise in any way they can towards building a solid foundation for our USA chapter.

Mr.Loruama Tawawili is now CHAIRMAN, of our NEWER USA chapter steering committee until our group is officially registered here in the US after mutual agreement by the majority ONLY. There will then be an OFFICIAL election of office bearers, anything else assumed at the moment is ONLY PRO TEM and please nota bene everyone. We do have a tentative date and an agenda for our next meeting mid January, 2010.

At the end of the night we ended with a word of prayer and that would not have happened if all were not in agreement with all the above mentioned.

Malo a bula Suli, Mrs Samisoni, Serene, Malevani, NZ et all. Our meeting in Santa Rosa went well given the teething, mechanical and nuances of understanding and coming to terms with how org. are started in the US. It was a learning experience for Loru and Te-when in Rome do as the Romans applies since we live in this great democracy called the US of A, but the work carries on, the dream lives on. I must admit that we all agree on one thing i.e. the restoration of democracy and rule of law back home despite the prevalent structural and house keeping issues we needed to attend to i.e. 1) formation of 501(c) 3 non-profit, 2) database of members and overall # of Fiji islanders in the US, petition letters to be sent to our respective congress reps in our various jurisdiction including engaging the US Permanent Sect to the UN (Susan E. Rice) since the US contributes slightly more than a quarter of the annual costs for UN backed peacekeeping operations which includes FJ and 3) seek funding sources from various grants like the Carnegie Foundation, etc that support human and civil rights globally.

Our work is cut out for us, but it is a challenge that we will not back out from given the current juncture and fork in the road we have come to. I believe that we are at a point in our history that will define the future of our land. Soft sanctions have not worked and it is time to consider other options given the plight our country is headed-economically, fiscally and morally.

A quote came to mind given the magnitude of work we have at hand. "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing"-Edmund Burke. Let the annals of history be rewritten for FJ that we who love our country shall never let the dictates of a few determine the course of our struggle, that freedom shall be triumphant and that the people shall be given their God given right to determine their own destiny, however the dictates of their heart, governed by the majority and blessed by the land, chiefs and our forebearers. We have started to run that first 100 yards of the marathon, we will stay the course, never quiver nor fail. Failure is not an option for the stakes are too high for our children and future posterity. God bless Fiji and may the love of Christ make our hearts warmer this festive season as we contemplate our own "personal Gethsamane" and what it would take to free our country from the woes of corruption, decree, human rights and press restrictions in place. The battle has to be fought from the outside in.

FIJIAN ORGANISATION IN AMERICA JOINS THE TASKFORCE IN THE BATTLE.

We welcome the call by the Madam Chair of the Fiji American National Association (FANA)and the Youth & Education Committee of Fiji American National Association. Their participation and invitation to their 400 plus database for attendance is encouraging and overwhelming. I also learned that a congressman sectariat from their distric will also present.Pray justice and good will persist in our midst for our Nation we all proud of. God Bless All

Also my apologies everyone for not being so prompt in communication, all I can say is there is nothing like checks and balances to keep one on ones toes almost to the point of being totally overwhelmed and flustered.

Democracy is a beautiful thing indeed!! :)

@tiko,
As much I refuse to reply but inclined for the sake of the general public,you have been talking by youself and only yourself like a person out of touch seeking your own soul. I hope that you do find comfort after writing every line you wrote and the reply you often post,personality like yourself disgraces the beaty of god's creation as you choose to be ungodly in the way you see issue,the way you downplay important issue in our community for our life,sad to say again we are wondering if you are satisfied by what you are doing and saying..God help us all as we seek Gods leadership amongst us..God bless you Mr Tiko.
