VISION OF POWER

As the prayer warriors and Talatala pray over a person, screener Laitia Vula holds an open Bible in front of him.

As the prayers intensify, Laitia looks up and sees a bright blinding light.

He surrenders to the light with his mind, heart and soul.

He asks the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ to use him for the purpose of glorifying the Lord through his special gift of vision.

Laitia claims a very bright light from above shines into his eyes before he is able see images on the pages of his open Bible.

"Na kaukaua ga ni yalotabu e rawa kina vei au meu screen taka na tamata," he says.

(The Holy Spirit enables me to screen people).

According to him, many cases of abortion, miscarriages, unsolved robbery and even murders from the past, have been revealed through their church group's prayers and screening.

Laitia is 34-years old. He is originally from Matacaucau, Tailevu. He is married with children.

"Keitou na Lotu Waisale, Tabacakacaka o Waimaro, Wasewase o Bau. Liutaka o Talatala Ananaiasa Soro," he explains. (We are Methodists from Waimaro Circuit, under the Bau division, led by Talatala Ananaiasa Soro).

Laitia says faith healing is alive and well within the Methodist church to those who worship God in spirit and in truth.

He emphasized that God alone is to be glorified through the gifts of healing and spiritual ministering of his church group.

In fact Laitia only wanted his story published so everyone will know and glorify the power of Jesus Christ.

Laitia, who joined the prayer group this year is responsible for three villages - Dakuinuku, Lodoni and Sawakasa.

He was only a boy of 16 when he started foreseeing.

Laitia claims it happens when he's asleep. A vision is revealed in his sub-conscious mind which comes to pass even if it's after a year.

He says it's not dreaming but foreseeing (rai votu) events that will happen in the future.

Laitia says when the prayer group led by Talatala Soro visited his village in Matacaucau for a spiritual cleansing crusade last year, he approached the talatala and shared his experiences.

The group prayed over him and dedicated his life for service to the Lord.

Laitia says afterward he felt complete and his visions became stronger and clearer.

He said everyone has a special gift for service to the Lord - his is foreseeing with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Last week, as they prayed over a man from Dakuinuku Village, Laitia saw a yaqona bowl and a graveyard in his vision.

"Au sa tukuna vei iratou na leweni ni masumasu - "dua na bilo ni yaqona sa cawiri wavoki tiko qo. (I pointed out to the prayer group that I could see a yaqona bowl.)

Laitia requested that they bring the bilo in so he could screen it.

He claimed he saw an overturned bilo on sand. Whenever the sand rose next to it, someone would die.

Laitia said this meant that the supernatural powers in the bilo was being used with evil intentions.

"Niu sa raica kece na ka e tu ena bilo, au sa qai tarogi talatala, "vacava, suka lesu tale na bilo qo se kua? (After seeing the supernatural powers of this cup, I asked Talatala if we should return it to its owner or not.)

Talatala opted to return it, so Laitia requested that they all pray over the bilo again and ask the Holy Spirit to burn and completely destroy the powers within.

Laitia claimed as they prayed, he could see the edges of the bilo on fire and the Holy Spirit's prompting that the owner use the bilo only for good and not evil.

Laitia said the shocking thing about the whole incident was that, at that very moment, back in Dakuinuku Village, the daughter of the owner of the bilo became demon-possessed.

When news reached them, the group decided to go back to Dakuinuku to deliver the girl.

Laitia claimed she was possessed by several evil spirits, at one point she even started howling like a dog.

Several attempts to bring her back to her senses proved futile because there seemed to be too powerful a force in that place.

Laitia believed she was struggling to say something all the while but couldn't seem to, so the group decided to isolate her and took her back to Lodoni church to pray over her.

"E dua na ka e tiko vei koya e via tukuna." (Something within her wanted to speak)

Laitia claimed the girl then became possessed by her dead grandfather's spirit (her father's father).

"Nona tutu sa mate qai curumi koya".

Laitia said he could see she was possessed because her eyeballs were dark red.

Speaking through her, Laitia claimed the dead man's spirit said it was thankful to the talatala for the spiritual cleansing of his land.

"Koya sa qai vosa tiko vua na talatala, qai tukuna - "Turaga na Talatala, vinaka vakalevu na nomuni nanuma na noqu vanua (thank you Talatala for thinking of this land) - sara vakaloloma o ira na makobuqu, au sa nanumi ira, sa voleka ni kaboko na noqu kawa. ("my grandchildren are helpless, I'm concerned about them, my descendents are facing extinction")

Laitia said since being part of the church group, he has witnessed a lot of people being delivered from curses, and evil bondages of every sort.

Many have turned from their sinful lifestyle and dedicated their lives to God.

On the other hand, many who professed to be church goers were themselves in bondage to evil.

"Era lotu tiko, ia e malumalumu tiko nodra vakabauta." (They go to church but lack faith).

He said many go to church just for show.

They make it a Sunday-only obligation and yet live a worldly, self- indulgent lifestyle every other day.

"So mada ga, era lotu tiko ga vakarairai." he said.

Laitia says worshipping God must be in spirit and truth.

"E vinakati na lotu vaka yalo, lotu vakai dina," he said.
