Permalink Reply by ROBBY on April 15, 2012 at 10:47am The reality is, every church experiences a measure of conflict in some way or another. Churches are made up of people, and anywhere people are involved in anything, there's the potential for disagreement and conflict. Sadly, some congregations have experienced great setbacks or splits due to such unresolved discord, while other churches have learned how to head off or resolve such issues.
Church conflict frequently has to do with "power struggles" within the congregation. That is, a contention for influence or control. Sometimes this struggle for control comes from a self-serving lust for power and prominence. At other times, perhaps well-intended persons strive to gain influence to assert their own set of ideas and opinions. In any case, power struggles are unethical and cause irreparable harm to the body of Christ. God's Word tells us to pray for, respect and cooperate with those authorized spiritual leaders of our church (Heb. 13:17, 1 Thes. 5:12-13). Insurrection is nowhere sanctioned in scripture.
Sometimes church conflict is caused by angry, troubled people who redirect their personal unhappiness toward the church or its leaders. Those who have discontent in their marriage, their jobs or any number of problems, may lash out against other people — they may be especially quick to find fault with the church, or make mountains out of molehills. In addition, statistics say that one out of every five persons in the average church struggles with emotional/mental problems. These persons do not see reality the same way as others do. Their view of life is distorted and twisted. Exaggerations and misunderstandings are a common occurrence which can stir up turmoil and strife in the body.
One thing is dreadfully clear, those who become the source of problems of this kind will only bring trouble upon themselves. "A worthless person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth; he winks with his eyes, he shuffles his feet, he points with his fingers; perversity is in his heart, he devises evil continually, he sows discord. Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; suddenly he shall be broken without remedy" (Prov. 6:12-15).
According to Apostle Paul, the general root for strife and division is spiritual immaturity and carnality. "...for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?" (1 Cor. 3:3). The cure for this is to repent for the sin of strife, and seek to grow and mature in the Lord.

Yes indeed, stokey as The Apostle Paul said..the general root for strife and division is spiritual immaturity and carnality............Well said Bro.Stokey...thank you for sharing....God Bless...vinaka..JN
For Personal Gains. And it does come in every aspects that the so called leadership have control over. Whether it be for monetary, power and then settles in the sex abuse issues etc. We read about it all the time. Breaking away from the mother religion as one has mentioned? All false creeds. Such leaders should be nailed to the balabala. Un-righteous practices. I have also witnessed that when one thinks he/she is louder than another, one takes the honor upon themselves to raise his/her voice at the pulpit. The individual now becomes popular and so goes the unordained line of authority. NOW, may i asked who and how does one get that CERTAIN authority to preach the Word Of God? Peter and a few others were called upon by the master himself. And they were fishermen. Do i need to go a THEOLOGY college to preach and lead a congregation? The funny thing in this world, with a few dollars and a loud good singing voice i am able to purchase a electric, bass guitar, organ and a 16 piece drum set. Now i have just erected a new church. Has anyone question about Pastor Atu's NEW Methodist church? I would love to build my empire just like his. It's a business yet to be registered with the Goverment of Fiji. This guy is bilking tons of money from it's followers. DVDS sales. Just curious. Why so many churches?

@stokey. From the outsiders point of veiw, it is only right for one to conclude or question why the NEW Methodist differs from the OLD/ Original Methodist? Did someone cause another to anger that resulted in it? Why the SPLIT? The Bible clearly states that before the return of the Son Of Man," there will be be many divisions among his people". What else to expect? It's happening right before our eyes and i will not be an ignorant individual about the topic. What's your take on what i just said? Don't get me wrong, it is all different denomination in this entire universe that had to break away from it's mother religion. Something wrong from somewhere. It is either the Church of God or the Church of the Devil. There in an Original church somewhere.
