Tithe: Should We or Shouldn't We?

Thank you for your input Kali. Just a question, on what were you placing the expectation for something to "come back". In other words who said something is going to "come back" when you tithed. Forgive me if the questions sounds too strong. Just wanted you to share some light on it or any one else for that matter.

THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT TOPIC JOE..!! YES, I BELIEVE TITHING, IS FOR THE LORD'S WORK, AND AS BELIEVING CHRISTIANS,...WE SHOULD..!!! THAT IS THE LORDS...HOW CAN WE KEEP BACK WHAT IS HIS..?? HE GAVE US THE WHOLE WORLD, AND FOR US TO KEEP BACK THAT MEAGRE ONE TENTH IS DOWNRIGHT UNFORGIVABLE AND GROSSLY DISRESPECTFUL (IF I MAY SAY), TO EVERYTHING HOLY.

Thank you Fanny for your thoughts on the topic.

I just wanted to add this to the discussion.
Some in the christian community today are saying that tithing is an old testament teaching and not for new testament believers. In other words it should be done away with and no longer a relevant part of worship today.

Thanks for putting this post up. It is important message for all to understand wot tithing message means this days. Sadly this days, preachers hipped it up wen it comes to the tithing message.. They love to use it to manupilate the congregation inorder to get something n living it rich n claiming its a blessing from God. Many people have been hurt by this message and also this message needs a big fix up. First of all i am not against tithing but i do not agree on how it has been used in churches this days as if u dont tithe you wont get your blessings. Biblically Abraham was a complete rich pagan when he met God in the desert. God appeared to him who is a pagan then n told him that he will bless him n make him the father of nations. Abraham didnt complaint or refuse or even repent cause he didnt even know wot repent means back then. All he did was he believed n because he believed righteousness was accredited to hm n he became a man of faith. He became more powerful n more wealthy. You can read that in the book of Romans.
2nd tithing is not in the new testament, all it says is each person shud give wot each heart has decided to do give. God is not demanding for ppl to tithe. When we come to Jesus our lives is no longer 10% but 100% everything we own is now his. So tithing shud not be a way of saying if u dont tithe u wont get your blessings or the heavens will be closed over you as Malachi 3 is wot most preachers loves to use. The heavens have been opened from the day Jesus got baptised n has never been closed. We closed it cause we dont believe that we are blessed through grace not by good works. I am not saying we shud not tithe in here but wot i am saying tithing shud not be used as an escape root for those pastors who uses there congregation to get money. Yes the congregation shud always be blessing to the church n always be willing to give. We give not to get blessings but we give cause we are blessed through God's grace. Grace means unmerited favor and yes we who is a believer all carry this sceret blessings. We shud not limit ourselves on how much we shud give but always be cheerful wen it comes to giving. God loves a cheerful giver, whether its 1% or a 100% he still loves us. God does not need our money.. he is already rich.. All he wants is that we love him 100% inorder that we may be an overflowing people of blessings. Giving does not have to be money.. it cud be anything that will be a blessings to those that the Lord wants to bless his people with. Let me tell you, even non christians out there yet they still rich n milionares n why do christian have to use the tithe message to get blessings? Paul says if u live by the law u wil die with the law cause the law is the shadow of the things to come. We shud be in a higher standard by now if we know our inheritances... not by doing good works but believing that we are the righteousness of God n our blessings u can read it in epheasians.. yes Paul says out of his glories riches that you are enrich with every blessings that flows from Christ not blessings on how the israelites lived up too as the days of Moses. If believe in that law of Moses on 10% u will have to work hard all your life to try n live to it n if u break it.. the curses comes cause u believe the old covenant blessings.. If u in Christ u in new covenant n your blessings comes from Jesus himself by believing that we are the righteoussness of God. The gospel is a message of right believing not a a message of right living! bless u guys!!!

My church believe tithing is a recognition that everything we have comes from God. The practice checks our greed, promotes personal discipline and thrift, testifies to our faith, promotes God’s work in the world, and alleviates human need. While we do not believe tithing to be a condition for salvation, we do believe it is a very important biblical model, one which should set the minimal standard for Christian giving for people in all income ranges.Though some people believe tithing was an Old Testament practice not intended for New Testament Christians,my Church(denomination) believes and teaches that tithing is still God’s design for supporting the ministry and reaching the world with the gospel. Our bylaws state, "We recognize the duty of tithing and urge all our people to pay tithes to God" It is true there is no direct commandment in the New Testament saying, "You must tithe to God one-tenth of your income"; but there is also no statement declaring the Old Testament plan as no longer valid.

You welcome bro.. some people still dont get the new covenant.. they think if they dont tithe they get the curse.. i thought Jesus came to redeem us all from curses and the law of sin n death.. no wonder people get the curse cause they believe if they dont give they get it lol...they dont see grace is given to all who believe. You dont have to work to earn it.. its freely given to all who believe n through that blesssings flows hehehe!!!
