Must We Observe the Law of Moses and the Sabbath Today?

Should Christians today keep Old Testament laws, such as the seventh-day Sabbath, circumcision, animal sacrifices, and holy days, or did Jesus remove or abolish that law so that we should only obey New Testament commands? What is the difference between moral and ceremonial laws, the Law of Moses and the Law of God? What day is the "Christian Sabbath" according to the gospel of Christ? Are the Law of Moses and the Ten Commands abrogated or still in effect? What law should we observe today? Should we today "remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy?"

Law and Grace

The Function

The Effect

Of Law

Of Grace

Of Law

Of Grace

The Law is based on works (Gal. 3:10).

Grace is based on faith (Gal. 3:11, 12).

The Law puts us under a curse (Gal. 3:10).

Grace justifies us by faith (Gal. 3:3,   24).

The Law guards us (Gal. 3:23; 4:2).

Grace centers us in Christ (Gal. 3:24).

The Law keeps us for faith (Gal. 3:23).

Grace lives in us (Gal. 2:20).

The Law tutors us (Gal. 3:24).

Grace certifies our freedom (Gal. 4:30,   31).

The Law shows us the way to Christ (Gal. 3:24).

Grace adopts us as heirs (Gal. 4:7).

Are you able to do all that is required there?

Only do the 4th is it?

Freedom in Christ

An allegory is a   narrative in which people and events teach deeper lessons. John Bunyan’s   Pilgrim’s Progress is a classic example. Paul used Genesis   16 to illustrate your freedom in Christ. Hagar is the law, while Sarah   stands for God’s grace. Ishmael was born after the flesh (your first birth),   while Isaac was born by the power of God (the new birth). Abraham represents   faith, so Isaac was born “by grace [Sarah] . . . through faith [Abraham]” (Eph. 2:8). The Judaizers wanted to bring Hagar back   again, but she was sent away because law and grace cannot coexist. Like   Hagar, the law was a servant that had a temporary ministry. Once the Son   arrived, that ministry was fulfilled.

church background is not the matter here...just give ur views or your thoughts..thats all

@ Peace your church background determines your views, thoughts and beliefs. How can we tell why you're saying what you're saying if you're not being transparent about your church background. Your church background plays a very vital role in shaping the very ideals of your belief system and how you attempt to work it out in your day to day living.

God's Law and God's Grace works together hand in hand.

...please dont split the two....
heres a text that puts the two together.

Romans 3:23-24 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

SIN - is disobedience to the LAW, for by the LAW is the knowledge of SIN

im i a Sinner? yes i am (1 John 1:8; If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.)

how do i know i need Grace? - i have done something wrong and i need a way out
how do i know i have done something wrong? - The LAW

how often do i need God's Grace? - everyday.

Here we go again...@ J. T Law..No they are very much different...LAW gets you Bound..( vesuki..) and GRACE sets you free ( sereki..) from the Law of sin and death..Now let this sink into your spirit, and let your eyes of understanding be enlightened...Amen..GALATIANS..3..from vs 10.."All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written; Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law," 11 Clearly no one is justified before God by the Law, because,  " The righteous will live by faith; 12 The Law is not based on faith; on the contrary, The man who does these things will live by them. 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written; Cursed is everyone who hung on a tree, 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit..."

Paul quoted Deutoronomy 27 : 26 to prove that, contrary to what the Judaizers claimed the law cannot justify and save--- it can only condemn. Breaking even one commandment brings a person under condemnation. And because everyone has broken the commandments everyone stands condemned. The Law can do nothing to reverse the condemnation ( Romans 3 : 20-24 ) ...But Christ took the Curse of the Law upon Himself when He hung on the cross. He did this so we wouldn't have to bear our own punishment. The only condition is that we accept Christ's death on our behalf as the means to be saved ( Colossians 1 : 20--23 )

Trying to be right with God ( "justified" ) by our own effort doesn't work. Good intentions such as " I'd do better next time" or " I 'll never do that again" usually end in failure. Paul points to Habakuk's declaration ( Habakuk 2 : 4 ), that by trusting God--- believing in His provision for our sins and living each day in His Power ( GRACE )---we can break the cycle of failure....Amen..

So living under Law, is by your own power and efforts ,and living under GRACE is living under God's Power and provisions....Amen...!!......vinaka..PEACE for allowing God to show Himself and His Purposes to us His Saints through His Son Jesus Christ.......BE BLESSED.....JN..

my friend Joe Nakui,
i think you are looking at this from another angle.

i agree with everything you said. But thats only half of it.

And I never said the LAW can save anyone.

what im pointing out is, The LAW tells you, that you need saving, that you need God's Grace.

God's LAW is like a mirror. A mirror can only show you that you have a dirt in your face, but it can't in anyway clean your face. Your part is to take yourself to the tap and clean your face.

heres Pauls words in Roman 3:28-31

28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. 29 Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, 30 since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.

you are right on you above reply, but here is the part you missed

verse 31 simply explained as, "Do we discard the Law because now we have faith?, NO, We uphold the Law through our faith."

that's all my friend.
