I would like to raised a point in regards to the fundraising and the old school meeting happening around in Fiji, and even overseas. It seems that some ppl take most of their time in doing the soli or whatever is happening and when they sell a T-shirt its too expensive that cost about $70. My Point is it a bit too much for raising money towards the sch since Life in Fiji is really expensive. Can somebody tell me the advantage of this particular gathering and fund raising and the Disadvantage
O keda ga eda vakaicolacolataki keda tiko (when it comes to old scholars and stuff) using the name of your old school. What actually started as a mere avenue for socialising and networks amongst old scholars, has now become the main driving force and revenue earner for projects in most schools (in the millions of $). I know sometimes the old school network overides the board of governers which not suppossed to be the case.
Vinaka vakalevu sunset gal..indeed this is a good point of discussion, just like to add a little on what NiteDrox has highlighted ..its all about the MONEY !!!!..usually our parents pay school fees and building fund period..and than you have bazaar which helps the school a little and that should be more than enough..but now whats happening at home the Old School network is running the school business and yes it does overides the board of governers..and guess what who is the majority its us the TAUKEIs...my education (my parents put there) was thru a Catholic School..why can we the TAUKEIs learn from this european nuns and brothers period...o keda ga vakai keda eda vaka ocai keda tu ena veika sega na betena...these are the things we (TAUKEI's) get occupied alot.. projects ni vanua (mataqali/yavusa kei na koro) projects ni koronivuli and projects ni lotu and than projects for the families..Vinaka
