You are invited to share and pen your ideas, views or opinions that will facilitate/assist our country back to democracy. All positive and/or negative ideas and comments to steer us back to the road of democracy are welcome.

Whichever way one looks at our current situation back home, democracy has been completely raped. The rape of democracy in Fiji is a virtual degradation of the populus of Fiji. Their human rights are being deprived:

1. the right to decide their government;
2. who they want to represent them;
3. their right to free assembly;
4. free protest;
5. free to organise into groups so that they can talk about what is pertinent to their daily lives;
6. protest on issues they do not agree with....with no fear of intimidation from anybody.

With this military regime in place, the concept of freedom per the Constitution is a total myth!

And, we, the people of Fiji need to come together and be vehement about our total disagreement with the military regime. So give us liberty or death! The reality of the issue is that democracy in Fiji has been raped...from top to bottom...left to right....inside and out and vice versa!

Here we have a military regime that talks about freedom to the people and yet the very same military regime randomly arrest people, torture them, inflict unnecessary harrassment and emotional stress to those that seem a threat to them. The military regime talks about racial unity.......the communal concept of togetherness and yet Fiji is far more racially divided today than it ever was.

The so-called advisors, viz-a-viz, John Samy, these are rejects from their adopted countries and yet they are being rewarded with exuberant amount(s) of money by these rogue military regime who have no idea what they are doing. Lying to the international community does not augur well with this interim government and yet the interim Prime Minister continuously talks with a forked tongue when addressing international issues. The ministers talk about internal securities as if Fiji is going to be invaded.

All around it is clearly seen that the economy is in tatters and the Constitution is just a useless piece of paper. The rule of law is as what the military regime wants it to be.

The above are just some of my views (from a pro-democracy viewpoint). But, do not let that deter you from penning your comments if you share otherwise.

So, let us come together and voice our views/comments, whether they be for or against the military regime and have a very healthy discussion here so that in the end we can factually understand what our role is, what we need to do and how we can come up with ideas to help restore democracy back in our beloved Fiji!

Please feel free to write what you like or dislike about the military regime. Be sincere and honest about your thoughts, without getting personal or spiteful.

Kindly note, this "topic" will expire as soon as we have an election.

The "silk worm" now is forming its "cacoon" to protect its fragile state hoping that one day it would finally turn into a "moth" and fly free! It is looking forward to that day! What ever it does now in its cacoon will determine its strength for survival when its time to fly free as a moth!
Will the VB moth fly free on that hopeful day? OR will it be a "fateful" day for him when the "Hawk" of democracy and freedom will sweep down on him ending all his hopes.

Fiji army intelligence denies entrapment
Friday, February 05, 2010

Taken from / By: Google
The head of Fiji military intelligence has denied that his unit tried to entrap the eight men accused of plotting to assassinate Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama in 2007.

Major Isireli Narawa was giving testimony in the Suva High Court yesterday as the Bainimarama assassination trial entered its third day of hearing.

Major Narawa told the Court the military was already aware of the assassination plot, and only gave suggestions on how it could be done, to see how far the plans had gone.

Defense lawyer Mehboob Raza accused Narawa of trying to entrap the accused persons.

FBC reporter Solomoni Biumaiono who was in court says Major NARAWA told defense lawyer Mehboob Raza, that they didn’t send in any of their operatives to entrap the accused into carrying out an assassination attempt on the life of the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama in 2007.

He says they sent in the officer to look for leads to the weapons that have been missing ever since the 1987 and 2000 coups but he came across the plot and they decided to investigate this.

Narawa maintained that the Military intelligence Unit only recommended that the Prime Minister be assassinated by a fatal collision with his motorcade or by a sniper attack so as to draw more information from the alleged assassination plotters.

The defense also questioned why a power-point presentation made by Major Narawa was not tendered as evidence in the first trial and it was only recently submitted for the second trial.

Narawa replied that this was his own report which he kept in his home computer and based on information he received from his operative and from his own meeting with Ratu Inoke.

In his meeting with Ratu Inoke at the SOFITEL Hotel in Nadi, Narawa and Ratu Inoke discussed ways of securing money to buy weapons from New Zealand to use in the assassination plot.

Narawa also told the court that Ratu Inoke told him of the support the vanua has for him and also the church does support him. The trial will resume agains next Monday.

Ban on tabua gift
Ifereimi Nadore
Friday, February 05, 2010

NO ONE on the civil service payroll is allowed to keep whales' teeth (tabua) or any other traditional gifts accorded to them by members of the community during the course of their duty.

Civil servants should instead offer a formal acknowledgement of acceptance for the traditional gifts and immediately afterwards return any such gifts to those who presented it to them.

This directive was issued by Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama in a circular signed by Pio Tikoduadua, the permanent secretary to the Prime Minister's office this week.

The circular was addressed to all ministries, permanent secretaries and public servants. It is understood Commodore Bainimarama had been practising the new measures at all traditional ceremonies he attended.

Meanwhile, the Department of Environment has ordered that anyone who wants to sell tabua should register to do so, setting the fee at $1,050.

This followed the confiscation of tabua from a number of pawn shops in Suva. This would allow them to trade tabua on the condition that such trade not involve those that were in the custody of the department.

« ONE DECREE, TWO DECREE, THREE DECREES, FOUR …THE ILLEGAL REGIME SINKING EVER LOWER
By solivakasama
Can you believe this crap.

As if the Australian Government would do such a thing. We’re pretty damn sure the Australian have better things to do with $1 billion.

And who would want to bother assassinating the irrelevant ole oink, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn

We know he’s the mad puppet OINK being cleverly manipulated, but he is not the one who is actually running the show. Although he likes to think he’s the star from a Denzel Washington movie, he’s really the biggest stooge in the world.

Nah, all lies.

The Qaranivalu should get his people to group curse these liars, that’ll fix the whole lot of them in one go. No need for $1 billion assassination plots that dwell in the minds of the silly gungho soldiers. Too many Iraqi roadblocks have stunted their minds.

MORE SKULLDUGGERY FROM THE ILLEGAL REGIME TO DIVERT OUR ATTENTION, AFTER ALL, THEIR KANGAROO COURT ONLY BENEFITS THEM AS IT IS AN ILLEGAL ONE ANYWAY, SO THEY CAN BULLSHIT TILL THEY’RE ALL BLUE IN THE FACE & CONVICT ANYONE ON TRUMPED UP CHARGES.

WE ALL KNOW THIS CASE WAS NOT PROVEN IN THE LEGAL COURT AFTER 5.12.06 HENCE THE BULL DARI.

Just wondering how they’ve rewarded this so called witness.

A LIE IS A LIE IS A LIE IS A LIE …

Aust ‘put up $1 bln assassination back-up’
February 04, 2010 04:32:22 PM
The Fiji High Court today heard that the Australian government was willing to give $1 billion to kick-start the Fiji economy if plans to assassinate Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama went wrong and an uprising ensued.

During the trial of eight men charged with conspiracy to assassinate Bainimarama, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and then Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry, State witness Major Isireli Narawa said he was assured by one of the eight, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata that the consulates of the United States, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom stationed in Fiji had granted him (Ratu Inoke) their support.

Answering questions from State lawyer David Toganivalu, Narawa said he first met Takiveikata in a Nadi hotel room on 24 October 2007 where he claims Takiveikata told him his group had the backing of the vanua (state), the Methodist church and international community in their campaign to overthrow the Bainimarama regime.

Narawa said Takiveikata also told him they had arranged for the purchase of weapons to be used in the assassination to be brought in from New Zealand.

Defense lawyer Akuila Naco questioned Narawa, the military’s Chief Staff Officer Intelligence, as to why he did not query about the types of weapons that would be purchased since the idea of infiltrating the community was to recover missing weapons from the 2000 coup.

“Because Kuli (army spy) had already given us in his reports the types of weapons they were getting and Ratu Inoke would not have known the specifics of the weapons if I had asked him,” Narawa said.

The alleged meeting was arranged by army intelligence officer Lance Corporal Peniasi Kuli, the army’s double operative who discovered the alleged assassination plot in September 2007.

Education, Health to be improved in Kadavu

Email this page The Prime Minister in his visit to Kadavu last week stressed that the development for the province will be geared toward the improvement of education and the health of the people.

Commissioner Eastern Colonel Ifereimi Vasu said most of the requests that came from the people during the Prime Minister's visit were taken on board, however Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama stressed that the people should try and also focus on activities that help generate income.

Vasu siad Bainimarama clearly stated the path that the Government was going to take in terms of development.

Vasu added Bainimarama saw a lot of potential in terms of agriculture and forestry, one being the pine industry and that is why he has sent a team over to look into how the people of Kadavu can fully benefit from their hard work.

This is very good indeed for the people of Kadavu but what Bainimarama is not telling the people of Kadavu is how much all these Reforms will cost and who is going to pay for it? Considering the state of Fiji's economy now this Reform in Kadavu will be paid for by the children of the children and so on and so forth.....

I have always wondered if the government would ever do something to stop the sale of traditional artifacts like tabua, ibe and masi by the indian pawnshop owners in Suva and other towns in Fiji. Locals desperate for cash norally take these items to the pawnshops. These indian owners know that we treasure these things so rip the local buyers off again by re-selling them at very high prices. Maybe the $1,050. fee would be of some help to control the problem.
