You are invited to share and pen your ideas, views or opinions that will facilitate/assist our country back to democracy. All positive and/or negative ideas and comments to steer us back to the road of democracy are welcome.

Whichever way one looks at our current situation back home, democracy has been completely raped. The rape of democracy in Fiji is a virtual degradation of the populus of Fiji. Their human rights are being deprived:

1. the right to decide their government;
2. who they want to represent them;
3. their right to free assembly;
4. free protest;
5. free to organise into groups so that they can talk about what is pertinent to their daily lives;
6. protest on issues they do not agree with....with no fear of intimidation from anybody.

With this military regime in place, the concept of freedom per the Constitution is a total myth!

And, we, the people of Fiji need to come together and be vehement about our total disagreement with the military regime. So give us liberty or death! The reality of the issue is that democracy in Fiji has been raped...from top to bottom...left to right....inside and out and vice versa!

Here we have a military regime that talks about freedom to the people and yet the very same military regime randomly arrest people, torture them, inflict unnecessary harrassment and emotional stress to those that seem a threat to them. The military regime talks about racial unity.......the communal concept of togetherness and yet Fiji is far more racially divided today than it ever was.

The so-called advisors, viz-a-viz, John Samy, these are rejects from their adopted countries and yet they are being rewarded with exuberant amount(s) of money by these rogue military regime who have no idea what they are doing. Lying to the international community does not augur well with this interim government and yet the interim Prime Minister continuously talks with a forked tongue when addressing international issues. The ministers talk about internal securities as if Fiji is going to be invaded.

All around it is clearly seen that the economy is in tatters and the Constitution is just a useless piece of paper. The rule of law is as what the military regime wants it to be.

The above are just some of my views (from a pro-democracy viewpoint). But, do not let that deter you from penning your comments if you share otherwise.

So, let us come together and voice our views/comments, whether they be for or against the military regime and have a very healthy discussion here so that in the end we can factually understand what our role is, what we need to do and how we can come up with ideas to help restore democracy back in our beloved Fiji!

Please feel free to write what you like or dislike about the military regime. Be sincere and honest about your thoughts, without getting personal or spiteful.

Kindly note, this "topic" will expire as soon as we have an election.

PMs visit a blessing to Kadavu
Monday, February 01, 2010

The former chairman of the Kadavu Provincial Council Ratu Jo Nawalowalo has welcomed the support given by the chiefs and people of Kadavu to the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Ratu Nawalowalo, a strong supporter of the current government’s People’s Charter, says the Prime Minister’s visit to Kadavu was a blessing.

‘The visit by the Prime Minister Commander Voreqe Bainimarama to Kadvu just last week was a blessing in disguise and saw an overwhelming support of the people and chiefs of Kadavu towards the present Interim Government .I am very pleased as a leading advocate and supporter of the peoples charter that this has happened with a total support of all the chiefs and people of Kadavu'.

Ratu Nawalowalo said the people of Kadavu appreciated the opportunity to ask questions to the PM and submit their proposals for village projects.

He has also called on the other 13 provinces in the country to support the government.

‘I certainly would like to call all the 13 provinces in Fiji and the chiefs and people to also pledge their support for their interim government which will ensure smooth transition for democratic elections in 2014 .Between now and the elections we must all remove all our negative and political agendas and allow the government to fully implement its reform policies which will guarantee peace and prosperity for our future generations’

Good one Ratu Jo. Do you really think that "your people" are genuine in their support for you and Bai?

The next election (If we will have one in your and Frank's lifetime) will reveal to us the truth or falsity of your statement, just to prove your lying to the world. What you are trying to do is to entice the other provinces to follow your stupid example.

We have heard the success of the circus in Kadavu from your own media (FBC), which is contrary to the truth of what happened, according to those whose reports were not allowed to be published.

I am sad indeed to see your attempts in trying to turning your own people to be crawlers like some good people who has taken that shameful path!

Continuous water cuts frustrate residents

Water disruptions continue in parts of the country with residents in affected areas getting more frustrated as they have been experiencing intermittent water supply for the past few weeks without explanation.

More than 80 families are affected with water disruptions in a settlement in Labasa.

A resident of Solove, Labasa, Naicker Muniappa said thet have been facing water disruptions for over two weeks now and there is still no word on what is the causing the problem.

Muniappa said residents living in the area have to cart water themselves and now that school has started the need for water is even greater.

He is also urging authorities to look into the matter.

Mother of two, Geeta Sami who resides in Lomolomo Lautoka said that having visitors on holiday in Fiji and experiencing water cuts paints a bad image of the country.

Sami said her relatives paid them a surprise visit and they were in a dilemma as water supply has been out in their area for the past few days.

Delainavesi resident, Jenny said it’s an everyday occurrence which is not on.

Meanwhile, a Wailoku resident Matthew Chand who also experienced water cuts over the weekend said that the Authorities need to realize that water is a necessity and that with an increase of reports of fires, people have a risk of losing all they own.

These residents said repeated calls to the Water Authority have been unsuccessful in solving their problems, despite consumers being on time with the payment of bills.

Repeated attempts to get hold of the Water Authority of Fiji have proved futile.

The water shortage or disrupted supply to all these parts of Fiji seem to unimportant because of the communities not being able to voice their concern of this basic neccesity. It is a wonder that these few people have been able to get their complaints to the media, but they should not hold their breath for help to come anytime soon.

The Bainimarama government is on a "you support us, we serve you" development mission.

Back in the day when I was growing up, I only ever remember water cuts after a natural disaster took place, eg...hurricanes, then again it would only last for as long as 3-4 days at the worst.

Fiji water gains celebrity status and Fiji citizens lack a reliable supply of Water.

What is the government of the day doing wrong that causes for all these disruptions??

It's probably going to get even worse since this silly decree is now in place, Heaven help you should you complain about anything or your might get "life imprisonment", who determines where the lines are?

Marama Naita,

They are doing the right things first....build roads and bridges - when they get thirsty from all that hard work, then they will fix the water supply....oso... lol !!!
