You are invited to share and pen your ideas, views or opinions that will facilitate/assist our country back to democracy. All positive and/or negative ideas and comments to steer us back to the road of democracy are welcome.

Whichever way one looks at our current situation back home, democracy has been completely raped. The rape of democracy in Fiji is a virtual degradation of the populus of Fiji. Their human rights are being deprived:

1. the right to decide their government;
2. who they want to represent them;
3. their right to free assembly;
4. free protest;
5. free to organise into groups so that they can talk about what is pertinent to their daily lives;
6. protest on issues they do not agree with....with no fear of intimidation from anybody.

With this military regime in place, the concept of freedom per the Constitution is a total myth!

And, we, the people of Fiji need to come together and be vehement about our total disagreement with the military regime. So give us liberty or death! The reality of the issue is that democracy in Fiji has been raped...from top to bottom...left to right....inside and out and vice versa!

Here we have a military regime that talks about freedom to the people and yet the very same military regime randomly arrest people, torture them, inflict unnecessary harrassment and emotional stress to those that seem a threat to them. The military regime talks about racial unity.......the communal concept of togetherness and yet Fiji is far more racially divided today than it ever was.

The so-called advisors, viz-a-viz, John Samy, these are rejects from their adopted countries and yet they are being rewarded with exuberant amount(s) of money by these rogue military regime who have no idea what they are doing. Lying to the international community does not augur well with this interim government and yet the interim Prime Minister continuously talks with a forked tongue when addressing international issues. The ministers talk about internal securities as if Fiji is going to be invaded.

All around it is clearly seen that the economy is in tatters and the Constitution is just a useless piece of paper. The rule of law is as what the military regime wants it to be.

The above are just some of my views (from a pro-democracy viewpoint). But, do not let that deter you from penning your comments if you share otherwise.

So, let us come together and voice our views/comments, whether they be for or against the military regime and have a very healthy discussion here so that in the end we can factually understand what our role is, what we need to do and how we can come up with ideas to help restore democracy back in our beloved Fiji!

Please feel free to write what you like or dislike about the military regime. Be sincere and honest about your thoughts, without getting personal or spiteful.

Kindly note, this "topic" will expire as soon as we have an election.

I hope someone can get this story, if cooberated, out to the various media outlets and newsroom in Australia and New Zealand.

It shows that absolutely no one is safe !

What a bunch of thugs these cowardly Soldiers are.

Why am I not surprised that this happened? Could it be because it has become common knowledge that Fiji’s army is loaded with thugs?

Frank Bainimarama's position looks tenuous, at best, his authority mute and his mental state, that of a deranged, deluded madman and Psychopath, clinging to the last bastion of power..

One might ask, what does that make the people that follow his illegal orders ?

Fearful of incarceration, he is like a wounded possum when cornered, full of venom and hatred, lashing out at anyone who goes near him. No one is safe !

At this stage, he is a very dangerous man, not because he is brave, but because he, like many of his subordinates directly surrounding him, are desperate bully's and coward's who will do anything to stay out of prison !

And because they have the weapons to back their unjust cause.

It will take an act of God to smite this man.

(http://www.thefreedictionary.com/smite)

Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, is intent on spreading his vile and evil doctrine of hate for his fellow Human Beings at any cost.

This well groomed, charismatic and well spoken individual's behaviour is indicative and typical of both of his mistresses, the Shameem Sisters.

So one could deduce from this that it is the Shameem Sisters who have Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum in their grasp and his manhood in their hands to do with as they will.

Just squeeze and he will jump to their whim.

Often disaffected children, traumatised by the wrath of an ill equipped or brutal parent, will grow up with childlike gentleness and caring on the surface, only to be covering a deep seated loathing for Humanity and all others.

It would be safe to say that his recent marriage was one made in hell, as his child bride no doubt acquiesces to his every whim to suit his maniacal needs.

Something he never was able to acquire from either of his parents.

It will be only a matter of time before she realises that all was not as it seemed and that she was attracted to this mans aura, an aura of power and strength, intoxicating to any love struck female, especially one of questionable intellect.

He in turn, was no doubt attracted to the Indigenous Fijian woman's ability to Mother and care for their man as no other could. Something denied him in his youth because of his own Mother's short comings and inability to nurture him.

Their attraction to one another could be likened to a moth in the night being drawn into the warmth of a light bulb glowing in the freezing cold, dead of night.

It would have been impossible for her to resist and he likewise.

But the Shameem Sisters know this and have used this knowledge of an ill treated child and its response to abuse and neglect to their own advantage and they will discard him as soon as they have what they themselves crave.

The question is, what is their goal and what lengths are they prepared to go to reach those goals ?

I suspect that once Frank Bainimarama is successful in his bid for the Presidency, that Aiyaz will make his play for the Prime Ministership and Shameem, the push for Chief Justice.

Once those goals have been attained, then it will only be a mater of time before Frank is removed and Shameem made President in his place, this will make her the 1st. female President, an appointment even the  indigenous Women of Viti will support, as noted in the recent exchanges on matavuvale !

So we can safely suggest that it is two ill equipped and despotic women, the Shameem Sisters, who are running Aiyaz and his agenda, and Aiyaz in turn who is utilising Frank's connections with the Military and his fear of prison to facilitate his own endeavours.

The two men being lead by their two Indian Moslem women with black hearts and Demonic endeavours..

But what excuse do Frank's supporters have, what drives them to turn against their own Citizens and fellow tribesmen and women ?

I can only suggest that it was a misconception that Frank Bainimarama was originally well intentioned and doing the right thing, though I fail to see how High Treason against your own Government, can ever be justified under any circumstances.

What to do now ?

It is a hell of a life we are living in Fiji right now...a life that has been dominated by Nashat Shameem (NS) as the behind-the-scene Puppeteer, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum (ASK)as the Puppet, and Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama (JVB) as the Puppet Figurehead who acts on the whims of the Puppeteer and the Puppet through the Dumb Fiji Military (DFM). Yes, this is the life we now live in Fiji...being led by a bunch of arrogant, conniving, cunning, self righteous, selfish, cronyistic, snobbish, 'matauvatu' 'ulukau', 'lamulamu' partially educated group who had actually achieved nothing before they got to rule by default... Anyone who has moved around Fiji, especially in the past year will not be surprised by Wikileaks’ revelations about what the US thinks about Bainimarama. His raw, uneducated brutality has draped a shroud of fear, retribution and paranoia over the land. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the US diplomatic reports describe an erratic, sometimes violent leader, thin-skinned, often defensive and insecure, and prone to be ''wildly excessive'' in his reactions to criticism. Too bad Wikileaks can’t steal cables from all the other Suva embassies, bar of course the Chinese who just don’t get it – what’s a dictatorship!
The horror of living under a rock whilst the childishly petulant dictator and his goons trample on democracy can’t be really absorbed until you have seen it at work. Too many decent people bravely go about a revolting existence, particularly the people who should make a difference – our community leaders. You can see them bowing, scraping, dutifully laughing and toasting the former sailor and our smirking narcissist AG at regular evening “events”. What a ghastly option! What a rotten night out. The country is being gutted. There is simply no future. 0035  August 27, 2011 9:55 PM

US cables show Bainimarama beat opponents

27 Aug, 2011 12:00 AM

FIJI'S military strongman Commodore Frank Bainimarama is irrational, unbalanced and violent, and directly took part in the human rights abuses that followed his December 2006 coup, according to leaked United States diplomatic reports.

Secret US embassy cables leaked to WikiLeaks, and provided exclusively to Fairfax, allege beatings and intimidation of the military regime's suspected opponents took place with the full knowledge of senior Fijian military commanders and included the direct participation of Commodore Bainimarama, now Fiji's interim prime minister.

One embassy report records witness testimony that Commodore Bainimarama joined in an assault on a senior public servant detained at the Fijian military's headquarters in December 2006, when the commodore ''kicked [the man's] legs out from under him and beat him around the head, telling him, 'Don't f--- with the military'.''

Although Commodore Bainimarama publicly deplored violence by Fijian soldiers following his coup and said he would ensure any excesses ceased, the US embassy reported to Washington he told European Union diplomats that if anyone insulted the Fijian military ''of course we must have them taken to the barracks and have them beaten up''.

The leaked US cables record that both before and after Commodore Bainimarama overthrew prime minister Laisenia Qarase's democratically elected government, American diplomats found the Fijian military chief ''erratic'', ''irrational'' and ''wildly excessive'' in his reactions to criticism.

In one cable sent to Washington shortly before the December 2006 coup, US ambassador Larry Dinger observed that ''a psychiatrist would have a field day with Bainimarama''.

In other reports, the commodore's propensity for ''sabre-rattling'' and threats of violence, including against foreign diplomats, caused the US embassy in Suva to ''wonder more than ever about the rationality of [Bainimarama's] judgment''.

The leaked US diplomatic cables contain numerous reports of human rights abuses following the military takeover, including the arbitrary detention of human rights activists, senior police and civil servants, trade unionists, lawyers and journalists.

Human rights abuses documented in the cables include beatings, torture and death threats ''with a pistol to the head''.

One senior police officer detained by the military at Suva's Queen Victoria Barracks described how he saw ''several ambulances depart the camp transporting people beaten by military interrogators''.

Other cases reported by the US embassy included deaths in military custody with one victim's body - ''marked by visible bruises'' - dumped by soldiers at a police station. In another case a group of villagers, including a senior police officer, was ''subjected ... to beatings over a three-hour period''.

The US embassy reports also document cases of rape and sexual assault by Fijian military personnel, including at least one instance of a group of detainees forced to engage in group sexual acts. In another case a prominent female human rights activist was ''felt up'' by a senior military officer and was ''warned she would receive worse treatment unless she stopped her activities''.

The cables indicate Commodore Bainimarama has always been confident international sanctions, including Australian, New Zealand and United States travel restrictions on his government, would never amount to more than an irritant.

In discussing the interim prime minister's motivations, US diplomats highlighted underlying insecurity in Commodore Bainimarama's personality.

The US embassy reports quote a former senior Fijian military officer and close colleague of Commodore Bainimarama, together with then chief of the Fiji Police former Australian Federal Police officer Andrew Hughes, as suggesting Commodore Bainimarama suffered from post-traumatic stress arising from the Fijian army mutiny of November 2000.

Although the US embassy in Suva has reported that Commodore Bainimarama has been ''feeling the strain of governing a country that doesn't salute like an army,'' the leaked cables leave little doubt about the Fijian military's determination to only relinquish power on its terms and to never allow its democratic opponents to regain power.

New elections, originally promised by Commodore Bainimarama within two years of the December 2006 coup, are now nominally scheduled for September 2014.

itaukei loyalty....

itaukei loyalty. itaukei character. itaukei honesty. itaukei truthfulness. itaukei faithfulness. itaukei decency.

guess it was only skin deep.

Weleilakeba cuts his own deal and turns state witness against Qarase.

it must hurt the old man from Mavana - Qarase nurtured Weleilakeba and brought him through the FHL system. took him up to that exalted position - of all the things which has happened, this one is probably the hardest to accept for Qarase. et tu Brutus ? close confidante and friend ?

one thing is coming out of all of this - Qarase is a decent man. a true itaukei. he is showing the character traits of an Itaukei - and its no wonder - Qarase comes from a clan which produced that legendry 22nd SAS soldier of world renown, Sekonaia Takavesi who led Pagoda Troop in the storming of the Iranian Embassy in operation Nimrod (Qarase's first cousin - from his clan) and the former President of the Methodist Church Rev Joseateki Koroi (another cousin from his clan).

one may not agree with Qarase's policies, but i reckon there's one thing that can be admired - his faithfulness, his loyalty, his firmness, his humility and his decency. character traits of a true itaukei.  he hasn't done anything to harm anyone. he hasn't sold anybody out under preassure. he hasn't made any deal to save himself. he has remained firm yet humble.

and now he stands alone. with his convictions. to face whatever comes his way. just as the Qaranivalu did. just as Ratu Jope Seniloli did. just as Peni Mau did.

i guess its in the genes. in the blood. itaukei character. you either have it or you don't.

nothing to bargain...

future itaukei children will read about this passage of our history - what kind of legacy does this leave ?

these things are being recorded for posterity.

it stinks of hypocracy and cowardice.

nothing decent or honourable about it at all.

the only decency in all of this is Qarase's quiet and dignified equinamity

its like Mara standing at the gallow on Bau - tasting that piece of Fijian bread. the bread sour in his mouth just like those last few minutes of his life had soured - but like a true itaukei warrior he accepted his fate with dignity and resolve. he had lived his life and made those choices and now he was at the end of his cousin Seru Cakobau's hangman's rope - he had lost - and now he had to die the new way - the palagi way - with the rope - the Christian way that his cousin had now accepted, but he would go out his way. no regrets, no plea bargain. no missionary to save his soul. he died as he lived - an unrepentant heathen. true to his last breathe.

that is what itaukei call "Dina". faithfull and true

and thats a legacy. an itaukei legacy. an itaukei warrior legacy.

I think the regime is imploding and the evidence points to one step forward and two step backwards strategy. Was the Bainimarama revolution a lemon?

the economy is the key

the economy is the key. once the economy went into disequilibrium, everything else followed.

the Essental Industries decree has happened because of two things (a) the policy decision which led to Air Pacific losing its market to the budget carriers - this was a policy decision by this Govt in 2007. the net effect of that decision is what we now see with Air Pacific today - and so they have decided that they need an Essential Industries Decree to get the airline back into profits by making everybody work at $1:60 an hour - how thats going to help Air Pacific ? nobody knows (b) the FSC fiasco with the mill restructure - and all the attendant mess with getting the wrong parts and all the rest of it - now they've got it running but its still not making money - and so they need the Essebtial Industries Decree to somehow fix it and make all the people there work at peanut salaries - how thats going to fix the FSC ? nobody knows.

but the net effect of all of these policy decisions from 2007 is what we now see here - reactionary decree by the Govt to cellotape the growing hole in the economy - and its now causing social disequilibrium within the broader society.

same thing with businesses - Chaudary's tactics in 2007 has led to a reduction of the business pie. it looked good when they were announcing all these massive collections - but what they didn't say was how they were killing businesses to extort those taxes - many of the tactics they used were simply unethical and completely counterproductive and simply illegal  - i know because i have cases on these issues which are going on - and even today i can't get any headway in Court - but the net effect of what they did was that it wiped out many productive businesses - so for a million dollars in cash they wiped out a company which was rolling over probably 4 to 10 million into the economy every year - they knock over the company for a million and then next year there's nothing. its over. finito - and when you multiply that by the number of companies and businesses these guys knocked over you can see why by last year they were forced to increase the VAT rate and the various other fees and all the rest of customs duties and all that stuff across the economy - the size of the pie had gotten smaller and so to compensate they had to increase the tax rates because they were no longer getting volume - whereas prior to 2007 they had been working on a base of say 10 productive taxpayers - afterthey wuiped out 5 they ended up with 5 paying at the old tax rates which was simply no longer enough to meet the previous rates of return trhey were getting so they increased the tax rate to make up the slack.

and when they increased the tax rates it translated all across the economy increasing the cost of goods and services - raising inflation in the process - and placing a further strain on the already constricted domestic consumption segment of the economy - and now its created social preassures which they simply have no way of addressing - people are unable to send their kids to school, the cost of food has reached levels that many families cannot afford - families are struggling - its now turning from a social issue into a social problem for the govt

and what has the govt got to say about all this ? they blame it on the GFC

and so whilst they are blaming it all on the GFC the economy continues to stutter and is now getting into seriously dangerous waters - because we are at the payment end of the cycle - all those debts the govt started with in 2007 are now coming due - and we've started defaulting already - the FS one is already in default to the Indians - we have to start paying our Bonds starting this Septenber - and within the next 12 months we start paying Beijing for all the loans we took out five years ago to build the infrastructures

and this is serious because we are not making sufficent money to pay off these debts - our industries and our economy is not making the kind of money which will enable us to meet these debt repayments and have enough left over for us to continue to grow, let alone stay above water. its going to be a serious cash flow situation for us - its one thing the RBF making all these projections about growth - its another thing altogether having the cash flow to meet our obligations and enough to keep the machinery of the economy moving

the Decrees we are having now are all reactionary decrees - they are decrees which have arisen because of the situations created by the policy decisions made in 2007 and 2008 and 2009 - those situations take time to manifest themselves - there is a cycle - and its economic. we are seeing the outcomes of decisions made in 2007 and 2008 and 2009 (eg the Budget carrier decision over air Pacifics market) - and we are reacting to them by writing reactionary Decrees, knee jerk responses to complicated issues complicated by prroly thought through policies made back in 2007 and 2008 and 2009 - and the results of which have come home to roost and which we are desperately now trying to fix with cellotape solutions.

Emosi07 I guess all those $10 words arent having their desired effect..  Have those super yachts come yet?.
I heard tell they were loaded with cargo and crewed by all those investors from Dubai.
