Vinaka Adi Ma for this discussion.

Back in the olden days before the white men came to Fiji our ancestors mostly ate 2 heavy meals a day, from what we know......they were very active pertaining to their lifestyle back then. I am assuming they snacked on fruits in between. There was less pollution like we have now, there were more trees, no cigarettes, no alcohol, no canned food......the list is endless.

Today we know that in order to keep healthy blood sugar levels it is advisable to have 6 small meals a day, isnt it funny how our eating patterns have evolved over the generations. In majority I know that most people have 3 meals a day, some eat on the run, some skip breakfast totally which isnt good as it sets the foundation for the day.

We make it a point to always have a sit down, home cooked dinner together as a family, one or two people might be either late or missing but because of the difference in individual schedules it is important to hold our families together and the kids look forward to "whats cooking in the kitchen".
